The intelligence of a pedigree is generally measured in one of two ways: the ability to follow new commands and their ability to perform them at least 9 times out of 10. The following breed brainiacs below are considered the best at both meeting and exceeding the standards.
Border Collie
It could be argued that the Border Collie is the hardest working dog on the planet. Considering their job description, it’s easy to see why. Collies are used for their extraordinary sheep herding skills. Border Collies are bred for their high-level intelligence and their loyalty to their master’s command. Collies are athletic and have a tremendous amount of endurance while herding cattle or sheep.
Poodle
Poodles are one of the most popular breeds of house dogs worldwide. They are full of energy, exhibit a confident demeanor, and require little effort to train. Poodles are excellent retrievers, which makes them prime hunting dogs. They’re well known for their obedient nature. Poodles are low-maintenance and require little healthcare through the years.
German Shepherd
If there were ever a dog that got a bad rap it would have to be the German Shepherd. This breed of dog is often seen as dangerous and violent. On thecontrary, Shepherds are very protective and loyal dogs. In addition to law enforcement, German Shepherds are also used for disability assistance, military use, and search and rescue missions.

Golden Retriever
The Golden Retriever is the ultimate family dog. Retrievers are affectionate and extremely loyal almost to a fault. They are excellent hunting dogs, especially when retrieving waterfowl. Retrievers have sharp memories and are skilled at remembering their own tracks. They are extremely easy to train and have a gentle and caring temperament.
If you’re looking for both beauty and brains, then the Doberman Pinscher is up to the task. Although Doberman’s have the reputation of being aggressive dogs, modern breeds are more amiable and family-friendly. Dobermans love to play and remain loyal (if not overprotective) to their masters and families. Dobermans’ have keen senses and they’re among the fastest dogs in the world.
